Fruit Salad

Fruit Salad is mostly how I get my fruit intake. I love a colorful fruit salad with exotic fruits. I grew up in Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast) with a Tropical Savana climate. My favorite fruit is Mango, and I can eat mangoes everyday. My parents are from the North part of Cote-d’Ivoire and there are mainly mango trees there along with some other kind of trees that I will talk about later. Anything with mangoes is a good choice. Okay let’s get back to the fruit salad. Please if you have a family, avoid those canned fruit salad, they are not good!!!  I am sharing a recipe of my fruit salad with you. It is easy and pretty cheap. You can do it and save it up in the freeze or freeze it to make some smoothies.

  • 1 mango
  • 1 apple
  • 1/2 pineapple
  • 8 strawberries
  • 2 kiwis
  • 1 lemon
  • 1 orange
  • 1 tbsp 1 sugar
  • 3 drops of vanilla extract (optional)

  • Cut all the ingredients.
  • Put them into a bowl.
  • Squeeze in the orange and the lemon’s juice.
  • Add sugar and vanilla

Be mindful that if you do not like pulp to not squeeze the orange and lemon directly on the fruits. If you a pulp lover you mind find it weird but yes Some people cannot stand it, so if you are having guests pass the juice through a sieve or strainer with little holes.

This is a recipe for my family according to the fruits that we like. I love mangoes, pineapple, my husband loves kiwi and strawberries. So I put fruits we love, and it gets exciting. So if you do a fruit salad put in the fruits you like and add orange juice, lemon juice and sugar. You can add a mint leaf or 3 drops of vanilla extract. Please DO NOT use frozen fruits but fresh ones. My Mother puts bananas in hers but I am not a banana lover and, whenever I put it in a fruit salad it get darker quick. Hope those tips will help you create your very special fruits salad. Please comment and let me know how you created your own. I might learn from you too.
